Foxes are not a danger to humans directly, however, they can be if they are rabid. Fox attacks on humans are not common, however, they do happen. Foxes will usually scurry away if they see humans approaching their habitat. Since these animals live in the wild it is not safe to approach them or try to feed them as it is difficult to detect at first glance if a Fox indeed has rabies. So it is better to keep your distance from these animals. Since foxes are nocturnal creatures, they can often hide or move about without being detected.

Foxes have been identified as threats to cats and small dogs. Foxes have actually been known to live longer in urban areas because they have consistent access to food and shelter  which also allows them to hide and raise young. Foxes have been labeled as opportunistic pests or nuisance creatures since they always find a way to wait and attack potential prey. Foxes can bite, but they are very timid creatures that will scurry away if they sense a human is nearby.
